Why do I need to use two cameras on set?

Logistics is a very important skill to have when you are producing video content. Video production as a whole can be an important, but costly, investment in your business. With that in mind, it’s important to ask: Do you really need to use two cameras for your corporate video production? I would argue yes.

Having two cameras in use during a production, especially during a live event, is paramount. It allows you to get different angles of your subject, giving you the option to change the visual onscreen to maintain viewer interest. This also gives you a backup camera, in the event that one were to fail. Having this failsafe when it comes to live production is great, due to the spontaneity of some live events.

Having two cameras also allows you the opportunity to hide cuts in less obvious places, since you have a different scene or background that you can cut to. This can give the illusion that it was done in one take, giving your production more professional credibility. In situations where the subject is more nervous around the camera or is unfamiliar with the subject matter of the video, this can hide those issues in a clever way.
