Do I need to hire a videographer or a video production company for my corporate marketing video?
This is a question that comes up quite a bit, especially when businesses are trying to figure out their marketing budget. While a videographer and a video production company may seem like they offer the same service, there are a few differences that are worth considering.
If all you need is someone to come out and record an event, meeting, or presentation, then hiring a videographer may be the right choice for your project. There isn't necessarily a need for a larger production if your goal is simply to document what is happening.
If you are producing a corporate marketing video, however, I would generally recommend working with a video production company. Marketing videos require much more planning than simply showing up with a camera. You need to think about interviews, B-roll, lighting, audio, scheduling, and how the final video is going to fit into your overall marketing strategy.
Another thing to think about is how much content you want to get from your production. Are you only producing one video, or are you trying to create testimonial videos, executive interviews, social media clips, and vertical videos as well? A video production company can help you build a production schedule that allows you to capture all of that content during the same shoot, giving you much more value from your investment.
Something else that is often overlooked is the planning that happens before anyone ever presses the record button. A production company helps organize the day, keeps the project moving, and makes sure everyone involved understands the plan before production begins. That preparation can make a big difference in both the quality of the final videos and how smoothly the production day goes.
All in all, I think it comes down to what you are trying to accomplish. If you simply need someone to record an event, a videographer may be all that you need. If you are investing in your company's marketing and want to create multiple pieces of content that support your business for months to come, I would recommend hiring a video production company.
