Do I need Drone Footage in my video?
Drone footage has become very popular in video production over the last several years, but do you actually need it for your corporate video? Like many things in video production, the answer depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your marketing.
If your business has a large office, warehouse, construction site, or campus, I would absolutely recommend using drone footage. It gives your audience a better understanding of where you are located and the scale of your operations before they ever step inside your building. It also adds another level of professionalism to your final video when it is used correctly.
Drone footage is also great for establishing shots. If your video is going to feature executive interviews, customer testimonials, or footage of your team at work, having a few aerial shots at the beginning of the video is a great way to introduce your audience to your business. Sometimes a few seconds of drone footage is all you need.
On the other hand, drone footage isn't always necessary. If your production is focused on a product demonstration, a training video, or an interview that takes place entirely indoors, it may not add much value. While drone footage looks great, every shot in your video should have a purpose. If it doesn't help tell your story, it may not be worth adding to the production.
Another thing to keep in mind is that drone footage doesn't have to take up a large portion of your video. In many cases, we only use a handful of aerial shots throughout the final edit. Those shots can be enough to establish your location and add some variety to the video without taking attention away from your message.
All in all, I recommend using drone footage if it helps tell your company's story and gives your audience more context about your business. Every production is different, and every marketing goal is different.
